The initiative was launched by FDCI or Fashion Design Council of India and the show was opened by famous Kolkata based designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. 19 renowned fashion designers are participating and displaying their creations in the prestigious Pearl Delhi Couture week including the legendary Abu Jani – Sandeep Khosla duo, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, J.J. Valaya, Manish Malhotra, Anamika Khanna, Rohit Bal, Rina Dhaka etc to name a few. The organizers and designers have promised to make it one of the best fashion shows with never before seen creativity and grandeur.

Compared to fashion weeks that showcase ‘ready to wear’ a couture show gives designers ample time to prepare for the couture week, and therefore spectators expect something really creative and innovative. Since designers get the full liberty to display the rich heritage and culture of India, the event in itself becomes really grand and striking. With the onset of great Indian festivals and also the wedding season, this is the perfect time for hosting such a show that will let fashion conscious people of Delhi try out innovative and fascinating designs. It is expected that the fashion industry will also experience a steep rise in sales and large scale orders.

Various celebrities, Bollywood divas and eminent names of the fashion world are expected to be a part of this week long fashion extravaganza. Fashion will be seen at its best with intricate embroideries, use of high quality materials and mind boggling ensembles. The 2nd day of the fashion week saw Indian designer Gaurav Gupta dominate the stage with imaginary creatures which was his unique theme. Many such unusual yet remarkable themes, designs and ideas will be portrayed in the days to come. So keep watching!
